Each year, Hamilton hosts the Hamilton Behind the Camera Awards in Hollywood and China to highlight special behind-the-scenes artists for their individual impact on the film industry. Celebrities and film stars attending the red carpet events gladly give up the spotlight to cinematographers, prop masters, costume designers and screenwriters.
The recognition of the offscreen talent is underlined with the presentation of the awards by the leading stars of the movie industry. The award recipients are chosen based on the advice of professionals from each category, from the movies released during the year and/or presented at the prestigious festivals of Cannes, Toronto and Venice and the festival of the American Film Institute.
I was so lucky to get the change to attend the event in Los Angeles. I’m sure you followed the event through my social media. I tried to share all my favorite moments with you. This article will highlight the event.
I arrived in Los Angeles Friday night. After checking into my hotel I joined the Hamilton team for a casual buffet dinner at the Mama Shelter rooftop. The top floor of the hotel.
Saturday I started with a breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast we drove to History of Hire. The prop rental company providing all types of accessoires from guitars, food, beauty products, to video cameras. Every kind of prop you can imagine. They provided a tour for our group to get a close up experience of the make-up, wardrobe and film screening areas. After lunch (served in a typical dinning car) we headed back to the hotel. Saturday night was all about the reveal of an exclusive and new watch designed in collaboration with Nathan Crowley. The production designer for Interstellar. (The new Hamilton ODC X-03 watch will be available for sale in 2017. )
We started Sunday with a brunch at the Mama Shelter rooftop. After brunch I had some free time before getting ready for the big event. This year’s awards were hosted by “Scandal” star Bellamy Young. The Hamilton Behind the Camera 2016 Awards went to winners in 15 categories:
